The National Park Service has done an about face and told public information officers to release the names of those killed or injured in the parks, along with relevant details of the accidents. The agency had issued a memorandum directing regional park directors to withhold personal information in accident reports following a FOIA request by the Salt Lake Tribune the names of victims of fatal accidents around Utah’s Lake Powell.
