A Superior Court in Pennsylvania ruled that the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has a right to see letters, some from public officials, that were submitted on behalf of a city official who was convicted of selling cocaine out of his office. The court said the public had a “paramount right” to evaluate the activities of public officials, and to know whether the officials attempted to either excuse or minimize the actions. (2/9/07)
