The Department of Defense withdrew its opposition to release of photos and videos of alleged prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib prison. The Pentagon said it would drop its appeal of a U.S. District Court ruling ordering it to release the images, known as the “Darby Photos.” The suit had been brought by the ACLU and was joined by the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and 18 media organizations.
