The Washington Post dropped its legal fight to obtain Secret Service logs of visitors to the vice president’s office and residence. The Post had won a federal district court order directing the Service to produce the records but the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals issued an emergency stay just before the November elections. The Post said it had sued in hopes of getting the information before election day and that there were other cases pending that could resolve the legal issues involved. (1/31/07)
