Public Employees Group Wants Open Government to be a Campaign Issue

The Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility is asking all presidential candidates to take a “Public Service Pledge” to honor three principles of open government – Conducting the people’s business in the open and keeping vital documents public; protecting scientists who report inconvenient truths; and supporting whistleblowers. PEER Executive Director Jeff Ruch said the organization wanted to find out which candidates would “run a transparent administration where honesty is not a firing offense.” 7/2/07)
