A bill that would require all Ohio public employees to undergo training on the state public records law every two years has been introduced. It would also provide for a fine of up to $1,000 for “egregious violation” to of the public records law. The bill was prompted by a public records audit conducted by newspapers in the sate last fall in which almost of the public agencies failed to comply with the law in some manner. (1/28/05)
