A federal judge in New York upheld a reporter’s qualified privilege to withhold information in a case involving publishers of two energy-industry newsletters. But Chief Magistrate Judge Andrew J. Peck also said the publishers must provide some information that cannot be obtained elsewhere. The publishers had been subpoenaed to provide information in a case brought by futures traders against several energy companies. (11/19/05)
