Under court order, Florida’s Department of Children & Families released records involving the rape and murder of a 13-year-old who had complained of abuse to the Fort Myers News Press. The records showed the department ignored a recommendation from an independent Child Protection Team to remove the child from her home because of sexual abuse. One DCF investigator told the girl feared going home, responded, “Not my problem.” (6/20/06)
