Reporter-Source Shield Law To Be Reintroduced Soon

House lawmakers plan to reintroduce a bipartisan measure that would allow reporters to protect the identities of confidential sources. The bill failed to move last session but supporters say the new Democrat-controlled Congress is more likely to approve the shield legislation. That would set up a confrontation with the Bush administration, which opposes the legislation. A companion Senate bill is also expected to be filed this month. (3/13/07)
