The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press has submitted a friend-of-the-court brief asking the U.S. Army Court of Criminal Appeals to open pre-trial hearings of U.S. soldiers for the alleged torture and murder of an Iraqi general. The Denver Post sued to block the closure of the Article 32 hearing. The brief argues that the order closing the hearing violated he Constitution. (2-17-05)
