The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press says two resolutions before the American Bar Association call for new state laws that would “drastically limit public assess to criminal justice system records.” The resolutions would put the ABA on record in support of sealing court records when a person is not convicted and would sealing conviction records after a number of years if the convicted person’s conduct has been law-abiding.
