Reporters Shield Bill Filed in Massachusetts

Massachusetts Senate President Robert Travaglina filed a bill that would create a qualified reporters shield law for that state. The exception would lower the shield in cases of “overriding public interest.” He said a group of local news executives had made a compelling case for journalist protection in the wake of the sanctions against Jim Taricani and Judith Miller for not revealing their sources.
