A Circuit Court judge in Miami rejected a request of a death row inmate to have four reporters testify or turn over notes on a botched execution they witnessed last year. There are some 19 other people who witnessed the same execution and who could be called to talk about what they saw in the 34 minutes it took Angel Diaz to die, the judge said. The reporters had cited the state’s qualified privilege. (5/15/07)
