The mayor of San Jose, California says demands by the media and others for a more open city government are “a bunch of nonsense.” Mayor Ron Gonzales made his remarks on his weekly radio show as five council members prepared to adopt “sunshine law” reforms because of concerns about information being withheld. Gonzales was censured for his behind the scenes support of a city contractor. (3/20/06)
