South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster said that the Republican Caucus in the state House is a public body and must comply with the Freedom of Information Act. McMaster said in an opinion that state law would appear to define legislative caucuses as being committees of the General Assembly, which would make them subject to open meetings laws. (5/23/06)
