A federal judge in Seattle told the Internal Revenue Service to once again provide data on its enforcement efforts to the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse and researcher Susan Long who has analyzed IRS data since 1976, but was turned down last year when she sought audit data TRAC has received for four years running. The court said the IRS’s “undue burden” argument was “not persuasive.” (4/6/06)
