The city of Seattle has refused to release more than 130 documents related to its illegal filling of wetlands. It claims an “attorney work product” exemption even though only one-third of the documents involve the City Attorney’s Office according to a city-produced log. “Suddenly, lawyers are being used as a hiding ground for information the government doesn’t want disclosed,” said Michele Earl-Hubbard, president of the Washington Coalition for Open Government.
