Along with government records in most categories, more invention information is being kept secret. As of Sept. 30, the end of the fiscal year, there were secrecy orders covering 5,001 inventions, Secrecy News reports. During the year, there were 128 new orders with only 68 outstanding orders being rescinded. For the fifth straight year, the Air Force led the armed services in new orders. The government also imposed secrecy orders on 53 private inventions. (10/10/07)
