Sen. Cornyn Will File Bill to Strengthen FOIA

Sen. John Cornyn is planning to file legislation designed to make the Freedom of Information Act more effective in helping citizens obtain public records from federal agencies. The former Texas attorney general told the Austin American Statesman that when he got to Washington he discovered that the attitude was, “Sure you can request documents, but good luck getting them.” His bill will deal with delays in getting information and more effective resolution of disputes on whether records are, in fact, public.
