A proposal by Sen. Jon Kyl, R-AZ, to criminalize the unauthorized disclosure or publication of classified anti-terrorism information was withdrawn from committee consideration, modified and reintroduced as an amendment to a pending bill enacting recommendations of the 9/11 Commission. The revised amendment would penalize only Congressional personnel or other authorized personnel who disclose information in classified reports to Congress. (3/2/07)
