Sen. Barack Obama has put out some intriguing ideas on open government, Ron Brownstein writes in the LA Times, including a pledge to loosen restrictions on the Freedom of Information Act and increase public access to government. Obama wants to use the Internet to provide new ways for citizens to monitor government and engage in a dialogue. He also has said he’d require White House officials to disclose all contacts with persons outside government about pending regulations. (7/9/07)
