Sen. Specter Challenges Telecom Immunity in Surveillance Cases

Sen Arlen Specter, R-PA, said he won’t support any expansion of immunity for communications companies allowing federal intelligence and surveillance activities unless the administration is more forthcoming on details of the programs. “I won’t buy a pig in a poke,” he said. The companies say deserve protection because they are just honoring federal law enforcement requests.
