The sheriff of Madison County, Virginia was found guilty of willfully violating the state’s Freedom of Information Act and fined $250 and ordered to pay court costs.. A former employee brought suit after Sheriff Erik J. Weaver refused to disclose the names of persons he had appointed to a citizens advisory board. After the ruling, Weaver promptly released the names. (12/20/07)
