Sides Clearly Drawn in Dispute Over Oakland Salary Records

The Contra Costra Times’ lawsuit court seeking city of Oakland records on employee salaries has turned out a lot of friends of the state Supreme Court, which will hear oral arguments next year. Joining the city are a broad range of public employee unions, but not all. The Coalition of University Employees has weighed in on the side of disclosure. So have the state’s newspapers, the California Publishers Association and the New York Times. So has the conservatice Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association and the ACLU. (12/20/05)
