Two days after a student used recently purchased handguns to murder 32 people on the Virginia Tech campus, the Texas House voted to exempt concealed handgun records in that state from the public. In a state where an estimated 260,000 individuals have a license to carry a concealed weapon, the vote was 135-7. One representative, in opposing the bill, noted that information on every other state license holder is public. (4/18/07)
