The New Orleans Times Picayune reported that autopsy reports it obtained after filing a lawsuit show that the Orleans Parish coroner failed to classify the deaths of nine persons who died at a medical center after Hurricane Katrina. State law requires the coroner to classify any death as either as homicide, accidental, suicide, undetermined or under investigation. The deaths led to a grand jury investigation of a doctor at the hospital that concluded with a decision not to indict. (10/24/07)
