TSA Urged to Release Pre-911 Aviation Security Guidelines

The Project On Government Oversight (POGO) urged the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to make public information about its pre-9/11 aviation security standards. The agency now considers that Sensitive Security Inforrmation and exempt from disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act. But the advocacy group said the SSI designation is overused. It also suggested that information marked SSI should become public after three years unless part of a current directive. (9/12/06)
