TV Station Wins Right to Report on Auctioned Records

A Florida judge ruled that an Orlando television station is free to report just about everything it finds in 80 boxes of documents that once belonged to a political consultant, who sued to enjoin the station. The station, WKMG, obtained the records from an anonymous man who bought the boxes at storage firm’s auction. The station immediately reported the documents showed the consultant had worked with strip club owners to influence a local election. (2/14/07)
