Two Groups Challenge NOAA’s Prior Restraint Policies

The Government Accountability Project and the Union of Concerned Scientists said they are opposed to a new federal government media policy that imposes prior restraint mandates on all departmental employees, including climate change scientists and meteorologists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). “We are very concerned that the message of control will drown out the message of freedom,” the two groups said in a letter to Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez.
