Under Chief Justice Roberts, Supreme Court Becoming a Bit More Open

There are a number of signs that the new chief justice is lifting the Supreme Court’s secrecy veil, ever so slightly. Tony Mauro reports that because a chief justice sets the tone for other justices and court staff, a new, somewhat more open climate seems to be unfolding at the nation’s highest court. For instance, Chief Justice John Roberts’ predecessor and mentor, William Rehnquist, held only two or three press conferences in his 19-years; Roberts has already given two in his first year.
