A senior U.S. Secret Service inspector admitted that she destroyed documents for a lawsuit alleging racial discrimination within the service. The inspector, Carrie Hunnicutt, had placed the documents in a “burn bag” for destruction just two days before she was scheduled to testify in the case. U.S. Magistrate Judge Deborah Robinson is deciding whether to sanction the service for failing to produce credible testimony and evidence. (2/21/08)
