The Utah Supreme Court is considering a new reporter-source shield rule that would be among the strongest in the country. It would create a “near absolute privilege.” Utah is one of only three states that does not currently provide some form of shield for a reporter by either statute or rule. The court has invited public comment on the rule, which was proposed by a special advisory committee. (12/13/07)
