A three-judge panel in Washington state ruled for a coalition of pipeline companies seeking to keep certain pipeline data out of the hands of the public and the media. The opinion written by Judge J. Robin Hunt said that a lower court judge erred when he stated that specific security exemptions did not apply to the public records at hand. The information at issue was made public by the 2000 Pipeline Safety Act. (10/4/07)
