Washington State AG Releases Draft Regulations on Records Access

Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna released a 52-page draft of rules on public records access, the product of 13-public hearings around the state, and asked for additional comment. The new regulations urge cooperation between requester and records custodian, limit the fee for paper copying to 15 cents a page and prohibits an agency from denying a request because it is too broad. It lets agencies give out information in complex requests in installments. 911/28/05)
