The real issue in her case, argues FBI whistleblower Sibel Edmonds, is the public’s right to know, something the government seeks to deny by “gagging the United States Congress, blocking court proceedings … by invoking the so-called state secret privilege, quashing a subpoena for my deposition on information regarding 9/11, withholding documents requested under the Freedom of Information Act, and preventing the release of the entire report issued by the Department of Justice- Inspector General’s office.” It is, she says, “a fight against our democracy, which cannot exist without transparency and accountability.” (2/3/05)
