White House Stonewalls Congress on Warrantless Spying Records

The Bush Administration is refusing to give the Senate Judiciary Committee copies of legal opinions provided by the Justice Department on the President’s domestic spying program. The White House said, in response to congressional requests, that the opinions would not inform the public debate because the administration’s position is already known. That means any legal opinions that may have questioned the authorization of spying won’t be shared. (2/2/06)
