Is White House Using "Unofficial" E-Mails To Skirt Records Law?

The widespread use of unofficial, private email accounts by some top White House officials has sparked a congressional probe. Rep. Henry Waxman, D., CA., chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, asked the White House and the Republican National Committee for documents as part of a congressional investigation into the use of outside accounts. In at least some cases, it appears that “White House officials were using the nongovernmental accounts specifically to avoid creating a record of the communications,” Waxman said.
