The Associated Press conducted a seven-month study of teacher disciplinary records in every state, reporting that allegations of sexual misconduct led states to take action against the licenses of 2,570 educators between 2001 and 2005. That figure includes licenses that were revoked, denied and surrendered. There were criminal convictions in at least 1,390, or 53 percent, of the cases. (10/22/07)
