Karla Burgos-Morón
Karla Burgos-Morón (she/her) is the ProJourn Coordinator. She provides programmatic support to manage and expand ProJourn, supports operating systems, screens applicants, and tracks feedback and impact-related metrics in collaboration with RCFP data specialist and administrator.
Prior to this role, she worked as the Senior Office Coordinator for the University of Notre Dame’s Keough School of Global Affairs’ Washington Office.
Karla's interest in journalism stems from research she conducted on violence faced by journalists in Mexico amid the War on Drugs at the Kellogg Institute for International Studies' Violence and Transitional Justice Lab. She collaborated with Article 19 in Mexico, which made her appreciate the vital role played by local journalists. As an undergraduate, she also served as a research assistant on a project focused on reparations compliance in the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
She is bilingual in Spanish and has a deep understanding of non-English-speaking communities’ unique needs, beyond translation.
Karla graduated from the University of Notre Dame where she studied political science, Latino studies, and peace studies.
