After being detained by China for almost two years on charges of spying for Taiwan, Hong Kong journalist Ching Cheong was released today.

Cheong, a correspondent for Singapore’s The Straits Times newspaper, was sentenced in August 2006 after the Chinese government accused him of selling state secrets to a Taiwan foundation that was an alleged front for an espionage agency.
