A new Government Accountability Office report says some government departments and agencies have made progress in reducing their backlog of FOIA requests as a result of the president’s 2005 executive order but that much remains to be done. That prompted Sen. John Cornyn, R-TX, sponsor the FOIA reform legislation that became law as the end of last year, to call on agencies to quickly implement the changes called for in the new law.
