Falsifying of Court Records Must Stop, Florida Public Defenders Say

Public defenders in Florida have asked the Supreme Court to halt a lower court practice of falsifying records in criminal cases at the request of the prosecution. The Miami Herald reported that dockets in Miami-Dade Circuit Court had been altered to cover up the felony convictions of two informants. An assistant in he Miami Dade prosecutor’s office said the practice of getting judges to secretly alter public records to shield informants and investigations had gone on for at least two decades.
