The Federal Emergency Management Agency, which refused to disclose the names of 2004 hurricane damage claimants in Florida despite numerous fraud indictments, is again asserting a privacy exemption in refusing to give out names of Katrina evacuees in shelters. The federal agency’s refusal is reportedly hampering efforts of families to find loved ones and law enforcement to search for missing parolees and convicted sex offenders. (10/12/05)
