Florida’s Supreme Court issues new rules to halt improper sealing of court records and dockets in civil cases, however the judges delayed a decision on the sealing of criminal cases. The unanimous opinion directs court clerks to post notices if a record is sealed. Anyone could then challenge the decision to seal. The rules also prohibit the use of confidential case, docket or other identifying numbers. (4/9/07)
