HMOs Lose Connecticut Contract for Refusing to Meet FOIA Standards

Two of Connecticut’s largest managed care providers, Anthem health Plans and Health Net, threatened to drop their services if forced to comply with the state’s Freedom of Information Act.  Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell, calling the companies stance “utterly deplorable” didn’t give them the chance, directing the Department of Social Services to terminate the agreements in a $700 million program for uninsured children  and takeover providing the services.  (11/20/07)
