House Hears Testimony on Proposed Reporter Source Shield Bill

The House Judiciary Committee heard testimony from five witnesses on the Free Flow of Information Act, the reporter-source shield bill sponsored by Rep. Mike Pence, R-IN. The witnesses were New York Times columnist William Safire, media attorney Lee Levine of Levine, Sullivan, Koch & Schulz, former Assistant U.S. Attorney Randall D. Eliason, now with the George Washington School of Law, Rachel Brand, Assistant Attorney General for Office of Legal Policy, and Jim Taricani, an investigative reporter with Investigative Reporter WJAR, Providence, who was convicted of contempt for refusing to disclose a source.
