The Illinois Senate overwhelmingly passed a measure on Tuesday that would prevent the Illinois High School Association from regulating how news organizations use photos and video of high school sporting events.
The regulations sparked controversy last fall when IHSA disallowed some newspaper photographers access to the field to cover the state football championships.
The bill now moves to the state House for debate.
