Judge Calls Air Force Record on FOIA Requests "Dismal"

A federal judge ruled the Air Force has engaged in a pattern of ignoring Freedom of Information Act requests for classified documents, failing to respond to some that date back 18 years. “Dismal” is the way Judge Rosemary M. Collyar described the Air Force’s performance in response to request from the National Security Archive, the largest non-governmental library of declassified documents. She told service to immediately determine which documents in the 82 separate requests can be declassified and released. (4/21/06)
