A federal magistrate judge told The New York Times it may not use any of the information columnist, Nicholas D. Kristof received from two unidentified Federal Bureau of Investigation officials as part of its defense of the defamation suit brought by a Stephen J. Hatfill, a former government scientist who was investigated for the anthrax mailings in 2001. Kristoff has declined to name the sources.
