What’s an election day without a couple of access battles – in perhaps the two most critical swing states. In Florida, a judge Tuesday upheld the West Palm Beach election supervisor’s order to keep the media away from voting lines, even if remain well back of the 50-foot line of restraint in the law. Monday, a judge in Ohio refused to invalidate a directive from Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell that denied deny media access to polling places. The Akron Beacon Journal had sued, seeking sought a restraining order to keep the Summit County Board of Elections from enforcing. Tuesday, the Beacon Journal appealed and won in the U.S. Sixth Circuit. (11/2/04)
